Privacy Policy

How Rent Law collects, uses and protects your personal data — in plain English.

This policy explains how Rent Law ("we", "us", "our") handles your personal data when you use our website or enquire about our services. We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Rent Law
Suite RA01
195–197 Wood Street
London
E17 3NU

Email: info@rentlaw.co.uk

2. What data we collect

We only collect data you provide directly to us. When you submit an enquiry through our contact form, we may collect:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your phone number (if provided)
  • Details of your tenancy situation as described in your message
  • Your London borough

We do not collect any data automatically through cookies or analytics tools. We do not use tracking pixels, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics on this website.

3. How we use your data

We use the information you provide solely to:

  • Respond to your enquiry and assess your claim
  • Create a case record in our CRM system to manage your matter
  • Communicate with you throughout your case
  • Refer your case to our regulated partner solicitors where court or tribunal proceedings are required

We will never use your data for marketing, sell it to third parties, or share it for any purpose unrelated to your case.

Plain English summary: We use your details only to help with your tenancy claim. We create a record while your case is open and delete it once it is concluded.

We process your personal data on the following legal bases under UK GDPR:

  • Contract: processing is necessary to take steps at your request prior to entering into a services agreement with you
  • Legitimate interests: to manage your case effectively and communicate with you about it
  • Legal obligation: where we are required to retain or share information by law

5. How long we keep your data

We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to manage your case. Once your case is concluded — whether successfully resolved, withdrawn, or closed — we delete your CRM record and all associated personal data.

If you submit an enquiry and do not proceed, we will delete your information within 30 days.

6. Who we share your data with

We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for commercial purposes. We may share your data with:

  • Our regulated partner solicitors — where your case requires court or tribunal proceedings, with your knowledge and consent
  • Our CRM provider — who process data on our behalf under a data processing agreement and are bound by strict confidentiality obligations
  • Authorities or courts — where we are legally required to do so

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Rectify any inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Erase your data (the "right to be forgotten")
  • Restrict how we process your data
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@rentlaw.co.uk. We will respond within one calendar month.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

8. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure. Our website is served over HTTPS and access to our CRM system is restricted to authorised personnel only.
